Show posters that make themselves

Your calendar, stapled to every wall on the internet.

Keep booking shows in Google Calendar like you already do. Staplegun turns it into this week’s poster, tonight’s story, the month for the front window and the listings on your website — and redraws them all whenever the calendar changes.

No account, no card. Works with Google, Apple and Outlook calendars — or paste a list of shows.

The Owl & Anchor’s calendar for Oct 5–11, and three of the posters Staplegun made from it: this week’s lineup, tonight’s story, and a link preview card.

01Try it — no signup

Type a week. Watch it print.

This is the whole trick. Write shows the way you’d chalk them on the board out front and Staplegun works out who’s headlining, who’s opening, the cover and the age limit.

Your poster prints here.

This is a pretend week. Make a real board and it reads your actual calendar, every ten minutes, forever.

02How it works

Set it up once. Never make another Monday flyer.

  1. 1

    Paste your calendar link

Google, Apple or Outlook — anything that publishes an iCal (.ics) link. No calendar? Paste a list of shows and edit them right in Staplegun.

  2. 2

    Pick a look

Five poster styles, a few color sets each. Change your mind in December and every image — past links included — follows along.

  3. 3

Post it, print it, embed it

Each poster lives at a permanent link that redraws itself when the calendar changes. Save it once in your scheduler, your website and your bio.

Every poster is just a link

  1. Your boardYou get one when you paste your calendar.
  2. What to showweek · tonight · next · month · upcoming
  3. Format.png to post, .svg to print
  4. Sizepost · square · story · og · letter · tabloid · a4 · a3

Open it Monday and it’s Monday’s poster. Add a late show on Thursday and by Thursday night the same link has the late show.

03The templates

Five house styles. Real typesetting.

Long band names shrink to fit. Busy weeks turn into a carousel. Sold-out shows get stamped. Here’s each style with one of our (made‑up) regulars.

  1. Marquee template: this week at The Owl & Anchor.

    No. 1

    Marquee

Bulbs, black board, tall condensed caps.

Best for Rock clubs, dive bars, theaters

  2. Showprint template: this week at Hollow Pines.

    No. 2

    Showprint

Letterpress wood type, two inks on cream stock, stars and Scotch rules.

Best for Country & folk rooms, honky-tonks, breweries, touring bands

  3. Handbill template: this week at Smoke & Salt BBQ.

    No. 3

    Handbill

Swiss grid, giant date numerals, one accent color.

Best for Indie & electronic venues, art spaces, food trucks, cafés

  4. Xerox template: this week at Basement 417.

    No. 4

    Xerox

Photocopied punk flyer — cut-out label strips, typewriter, tape and toner.

Best for DIY spaces, punk & hardcore rooms, basement shows, record stores

  5. Supper Club template: this week at The Blue Heron.

    No. 5

    Supper Club

Gold-ruled lounge program in Fraunces italics, with menu leaders to the set times.

Best for Jazz clubs, wine bars, supper clubs, hotel lounges, restaurants with live music

04The outputs

One calendar. Every place people look.

All of these come from the same calendar and change when it does. Nobody on your staff has to remember to update the website again.

05Who it’s for

For whoever gets stuck making the flyer.

  • Venues & bars

Seven nights, twenty bands, one calendar. The week poster goes up Monday and the story changes itself every night.

Most used: week · tonight · month

Tonight at The Owl & Anchor, square post.
  • Restaurants & breweries

A trio on Tuesday, a wine tasting Wednesday, jazz brunch Sunday. It can tell a tasting from a band and labels each one that way.

Most used: week · month · widget

This week at The Blue Heron supper club, square post.
  • Food trucks

Where’s the truck this week? Answered every Monday, automatically — with the address under each stop.

    Most used: week · tonight

This week’s stops for Smoke & Salt BBQ, square post.
  • Bands on tour

Tour dates by city, reprinted every time the booking agent adds one. Write SOLD OUT on a date and the poster stamps it.

    Most used: upcoming · next

Hollow Pines tour dates, square post.
  • Promoters & DIY spaces

A night that moves between rooms, or a basement that books five shows a week. One calendar, one link, every flyer.

    Most used: week · next · link-in-bio

Next show at Basement 417, square post.
06For developers

Or skip our website entirely.

Every poster is a plain GET. Every board is a small JSON API with one key. No SDK, no OAuth dance, no webhooks to babysit.

Zapier and Make can fetch an image from a URL on a schedule and hand it to Buffer, Later or Instagram. Point one at week.png?size=story every Monday at 9 and you’ve automated the flyer.

Want listings on your own site instead? The embed widget is two lines of HTML.

08Questions

Asked at the bar, answered here.

Where do I find my Google Calendar link?

On a computer, open Google Calendar → the gear → Settings. Under “Settings for my calendars”, pick your calendar and scroll to Integrate calendar.

Copy the Public address in iCal format if the calendar is public, or the Secret address in iCal format if it isn’t. The secret one works fine — just don’t post it anywhere.

What about Apple Calendar or Outlook?

Apple (iCloud): in Calendar, right-click the calendar (or tap ⓘ on iPhone) → Share Calendar → tick Public Calendar, then copy the webcal:// link. Paste it as-is.

Outlook: on the web, Settings → Calendar → Shared calendars → Publish a calendar. Choose “Can view all details”, hit Publish, and copy the ICS link.

Anything else that gives you an iCal / .ics link works too.

I don’t keep a calendar. Can I still use it?

Yes. Paste your shows as a list, one per line — Fri 10/3 9pm Hollow Pines w/ The Marrow Kings $12 — and keep editing them in Staplegun. You can hook up a calendar later.

How fast do changes show up?

We re-read your calendar about every ten minutes. If you can’t wait, hit Refresh in your editor and it’s immediate.

Does it post to Instagram for me?

No — we make the images and a ready-to-paste caption, and you (or your scheduler) post them. Buffer, Later and Meta Business Suite all work; schedulers that accept an image URL can grab this week’s poster every Monday without you.

What’s the imprint, exactly?

A small “made with staplegun.app” line along the bottom edge of each free graphic. It’s how people find us. Pro removes it.

Will private stuff end up on a poster?

Events titled like “Private party” or “Closed for buyout” stay off posters unless you turn them on. We only ever read your calendar — never write to it.

Can I cancel Pro?

Any time, from your editor. The board goes back to free at the end of the period you paid for. Nothing is deleted.

I lost my edit link.

If you added an email to your board, get fresh links here (the old ones stop working). The browser you made the board in remembers it too. Still stuck? hello@staplegun.app.

Monday’s poster can make itself.

About two minutes. Bring a calendar link, or just a list of shows.
